Chima Nkemdirim

Chima Nkemdirim, Q.C. is Vice President of Government Relations at Shaw Communications and is responsible for managing Shaw’s relationships at the federal, provincial, and municipal orders of government.  He joined Shaw after serving for seven years as Chief of Staff to Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi.  Prior to entering politics, Chima practiced corporate law at Dentons LLP and was appointed as Queen’s Council by the government of Alberta.

A born and raised Calgarian, Chima Nkemdirim is a prolific board member actively working to make Calgary a better place. Chima currently serves on the boards of The Walrus Foundation and Alberta Theatre Projects and also volunteers at the Calgary Foundation and Calgary’s Olympic Advisory Committee. Chima has served as an Arts Commons Board member since 2018.

Chima joined the Black Opportunity Fund’s inaugural board in 2021 and brings his wealth of experience and insights as a director, and as a key member of the organization’s Government Relations and Governance & Nominations Committees.
